I want to say a huge THANK YOU to all who attended our 40th Reunion. I was greatly encouraged by an overwhelming positivity that flowed from those who attended.

I am one who has not stayed in touch with the school like I should have. Even thought it remains the best four years of my education, I have never supported CHS financially…only by word of mouth. I want you to know I was greatly impressed with what it is going on at CHS these days. The place feels much like it did when Father Tribou roamed the halls and cut our hair! Steve Straessle is doing a fantastic job along with the help of many others…there is a strategic vision.

One of the other folks who I had the pleasure of meeting at the Alumni Dinner and who is also very crucial to the whole process is a wonderful young lady named Anne Carter. Anne is the energy that drives the alumni association and an integral part of why the “ball is rolling” at CHS.

At present, CHS is conducting an “Alumni Challenge”. It is a fund-raising effort pitting decade against decade. (Currently the 80’s are beating the 70’s.) I would like to implore you to contribute to this effort. So far we only have one classmate who has contributed, and he happens to be the guy who willingly “got stuck” with the bulk of the expenses for our 30th reunion. He is also my inspiration for asking a few of you to come alongside me in financially sponsoring our 40th reunion. And, a few of you did just that! Thank you and nicely done.

My point : PLEASE step up as the Class of ’76 and generously give to this Alumni Challenge. My hope is that I will get a call from Anne Carter informing me that the Class of ’76 has REALLY COME THROUGH.

You can give at or mail a check to CHS Foundation, 6300 Father Tribou Street, LR, AR 72205. The intended use of the funds raised are to provide need-based tuition to those boys who cannot afford to pay and also to supplement teacher’s salaries. There are about 100 boys on scholarship now and that number is growing. Please be a part of that!

Many thanks,

John Carroll
